Two therapeutic tools used alongside talking therapy, have made the biggest difference to me and my life.
Therefore, it is these two tools I want to talk about in today’s blog post.
So let’s dive in.

The two tools I’m referring to are Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) and Matrix reimprinting.
I’ve already written about EFT and Matrix reimprinting in my blog post 3 powerful tools and practices that transformed my life.
However, my objective for today’s post is to cater it specifically to how therapists can implement it into their practice based on my personal experience of it being used in my therapy sessions.
To begin, however, let me start with the aim of the tools since in essence, they seek to achieve the same end result but in different (but equally powerful) ways.
So, both tools seek to release difficult and distressing emotions from the body, whilst also identifying and challenging underlying limiting beliefs.
How each tool achieves this is what I’ll be moving onto next.
Table of Contents
1) Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
EFT achieves this through tapping on energy points (i.e. meridian points) within the body.
For more information, check out my blog post Gravity Blanket: A therapy weighted blanket review.
But, you can find more information here and here.
Out of the two tools I’ve mentioned EFT is most likely the tool many of you have heard of and may even be implementing into your practice already.
However, with every therapist who is already implementing it, I’m sure there’s a therapist out there who isn’t.
And having experienced the benefits of the two myself I want every therapist to implement it in their sessions.
So they can add even more value and make an even bigger difference to the lives of their clients.
Since no therapist can know what client is going to walk through their door at any given moment.
And/or, the form of trauma they have been exposed to.
Also, I imagine those who do know EFT are more than likely to be practitioners of the tool in their own right rather than therapists implementing it into their practice.
Since you don’t need to be a therapist, coach or other professional to learn EFT (or Matrix reimprinting for that matter).
And, whilst clients can learn this for themselves it can raise difficult emotions within them, which is why it works well in therapy.
Also the question is whether clients would want to learn it.
Personally even having experienced the benefits I don’t want to learn it right now because I feel by undertaking it in therapy I get the whole package.
I.e. I get the benefits of the talking therapy, the support, the connection so I don’t feel I need to learn it.
One day perhaps I’ll change my mind but for now, I’m happy leaving it to my therapist.
2) Matrix Reimprinting

Matrix reimprinting, on the other hand, achieves this through meditation, visualisation and speaking to the subconscious mind in a positive and encouraging way.
As a result, supporting individuals with challenging their limiting beliefs on a deeper and more profound level.
As they are used to reframe memories with difficult emotions attached to them.
And, reframe the beliefs attached to the difficult emotions in the body.

EFT and Matrix Reimprinting in practice
Karl Dawson demonstrates how the two tools work together in practice here.
Although, in my sessions, EFT wasn’t quite used as shown in the videos above.
Instead, the two were used together when I first started getting therapy and once I’d been seeing my therapist for some time, the matrix reimprinting tool was used on its own.
And actually, I preferred it this way.
My therapist also talked me through how and where to tap along with her rather than sitting next to me and doing the tapping for me.
She might have done this once to show me but it wasn’t a frequent occurrence.
However, the purpose of using the EFT and Matrix Reimprinting together, to begin with, is to support the individual in feeling safe.
Then once that’s established the EFT can be let go of.
Most recently, the Matrix reimprinting tool was used on me to overcome feelings of shame around my anger and aggression.
As my therapist used positive language and imagery to reframe my view of what I was feeling.
As a result, supporting me in feeling calmer, more relaxed and overall happier.
Of course, I still have work to do because as you resolve one emotion and one belief another crops up and another.
But I honestly feel without the matrix reimprinting tool I wouldn’t have been able to make as much progress as I have.
Why take the courses
So why do I believe you must learn these tools other than the fact I believe they hold the power to transform the lives of your clients?
Simply because it will give you something different and unique to offer your clients.
Therefore, giving them a reason to stay with you as a client and a reason to come back to you if they decide to leave.
I mean honestly, that’s why I’ve stayed with my therapist for so long (three years) because along with the:
- strong client-therapist relationship;
- talking therapy; and
- incorporation of Psychological, Spiritual, Neuroscience and Metaphysical perspectives
These tools have given me an exciting reason to develop personally and professionally with a therapist.
As I get to see first hand the changes in what I’m believing, thinking and feeling compared to when I wasn’t getting therapy.
And as a result, the changes in my life.
